UK Minister to the Caribbean meets junior sailors in Nassau

The UK Minister to the Caribbean, Baroness Chapman visited Nassau last week during her visit to the Western Caribbean.

Whilst in Nassau the Minister took time to visit several non-profit organisations supporting young people, including the Bahamas National Sailing School. The Minister was able to spend time with young sailors as part of The Bahamas’ programme to make sailing a national sport, and with community group Lend a Hand helping young people and families with after school programmes.

The British High Commission has supported junior sailing in The Bahamas though funding learn-to-sail lessons at the BNSS and funding the construction of an E-class sloop, “the Independence” (pictured below).
