Exuma Saiing Club retains title at Sir Durward Knowles Junior Sailing Championship
The Sir Durward Knowles Junior Sailing Championship was held in Nassau, 20-22 February and some of the nation’s best and most promising junior sailors competed in the E-Class Bahamian sloop as well as several international classes (Optimist, Sunfish and ILCA).
After 3 days of competition and completing 6 races in the E-Class, ILCA, Sunfish and Optimist Championship events, the overall team winners were Exuma Sailing Club, for the 2nd consecutive year.
The highlight for many was a Le Mans style race off the beach in the Optimist Green fleet - see race highlights on Facebook.
The class winners were:
E-Class - Lady Kayla, skippered by Joss Knowles with crew Kianno Hutchinson (Exuma Sailing Club)
ILCA - Johannes Maritz (Lyford Cay Sailing/Bahamas National Sailing School)
Sunfish - Tanaj Manos (Exuma Sailing Club)
Optimist Championship - Leon Zarchan (Lyford Cay Sailing/Bahamas National Sailing School)
Optimist Green (beginner) - James Hutchinson (Bahamas National Sailing School)
