Excitement builds for the Fidelity Bahamas Optimist National Championships in Exuma

2 October 2024 - This year’s Fidelity Bahamas Optimist National Championship is being held 4-6 October in Georgetown Exuma, hosted by Exuma Sailing Club. The event is the premier regatta for junior sailors in The Bahamas ages 8 to 15 years old and was last held in Exuma in early 2021 (postponed 2020 championships).

Sailors are divided into Championship or Green fleets depending on their sailing experience and organisers aim to complete 7 races over 2 days. The current reigning champion Patrick Tomlinson is unable to compete this year so a new national champion will be announced on Sunday 6th October. Teams from Grand Bahama, Abaco, Eleuthera and Nassau are travelling to Georgetown along with visiting sailors from USA.
